| I am constructing the Relics of my past. Ancient weapons of great import to many a soul. I am encouraging all who have such a weapon to bring and share it. It may be a first weapon, maybe one you've become emotionally and spiritually attached to. Maybe it is an heirloom passed down generation to generation. Perhaps even a gift from a supernatural entity.
Come, come, I wish to inspire you. Bring back the weapons and armor of old. The named weapons and ones with legacies. The ones with a story behind them.
Garth's Relics: The Adamant Bar of St. Keylik The Hammer of Sephram Eritrius' Axe The Hammer of Relic Kazbralter, the Memory Spear
Please... share with us your Relics.

You've forgotten Eritrius' ancient prayer stones. He left those in my possession when we parted ways in Armisia. I must return Fenrir's Spear, Prophet's Greatsword, and Makio's Daggers soon.

| Zarius, I believe there is one missing... The Brawny Lass.
I remember many other weapons from my studies. Too many to count, but many nonetheless. Taulbergs Scepter of Kings White Raven and Black Dove, the blades of Raven The Meteor Sword of Grey Winterought, the Seraph of Winter and Sorrow. Bell Hammer of the Mountain Tea House
There was also a group of weapons... the Swords of the Iron Armigers. A set of Fifty Iron longswords used by this Imperial Division in the Second Era of my homeland. There was little special about them other than they were imbued with their fighting spirit when they were all slain in the same battle by the same Dark Chaos daemon. They tremble with rage when a daemon is near. This may be a good set to remake. As a tribute to their sacrifice and their duty. It would be a time consuming task, but a worthwhile one when Soluna finally has her army to full strength.

I must return to Vauth to take back the Lance of the Black Knight. Then onward to Armisia to recover the Stonewall and the Sword of the Seven Kings There is also the Buckler of the 2nd Order, and another...Ah yes, the Bronze Mace

| Because of the harsh cold, harsher heat, and constantly changing climate of our land, I've had great trouble with DAP. However, I have found great success in using double sided carpet tape. The best that I've found so far is found at Lowe's: Shurtape Indoor/Outdoor Carpet Tape. 4.97 a roll, and can usually go about as far as a small can of DAP, bout two or three well made swords.
It's especially convenient, as it can be used indoors or outdoors, not as messy for cleanup, and doesn't get you high/hurt you in the long run. If anyone is planning a weapon class day, I'd gladly show my methods and materials.

| That tape works as well as the cement we use? And you may want to speak with Niall about getting a time and place set up. | |

| It's actually worked better for me than the cement. It might just be luck, or just how I use it. Not entirely sure, but the weapons I've made with it have lasted longer and been easier to strip when the cores finally broke than the DAP weapons I've made. | |

If anyone is planning a weapon class day, I'd gladly show my methods and materials. It's in the tape aisle at Lowe's, at least that's where I get it from. And, I'm fairly certain about the price being 4.97, though I could be off by a few cents. Yup....4.98, plus tax. Here's the link to the Lowe's on 2nd Street in Edmond. http://www.lowes.com/pd_256904-56131-184814_0__?ipTrail=162.40.40.83&catalogId=10051&productId=3077983&pl=1&selectedLocalStoreBeanArray=%5Bcom.lowes.commerce.storelocator.beans.LocatorStoreBean%40305ba271%5D¤tURL=%2Fpl__0__s%3FNtt%3Dcarpet%2Btape&storeNumber=1549&Ntt=carpet+tape&langId=-1&errorURL=UserAccountView&storeId=10151 According to the site, it's temporarily unavailable there, but I'm pretty sure if someone went up there to ask about it, they might have it in by then.

| But be warned, carpet tape makes hard, heavy weapons and is IMPOSSIBLE to remove. There is almost no way to dismantle a carpet-taped weapon. | |

| Yin and Yang are carpet-taped, and they're still my babies, so it's not like I have a big problem with it, dap just makes it more fun in my opinion. With something that sets immediately like carpet tape, there is less room for error. | |

| I did forget about that, cuz I make heavier weaponry. Tape does add weight. And Atlantia, carpet tape itself doesn't make the weapon hard, anymore than DAP does, and is no more impossible to remove than DAP. I have an easier time, and come away with a cleaner core, when dealing with the tape than with the DAP. If I have a tape weapon to dismantle, I'll bring it along to reuse the core for a build day. Now, if left in high heat temperatures, the tape will melt some, which will actually give the same effect as if you had used DAP, and will strengthen the bond. The bit about the hardness of the weapon, btw, is usually if the foam is stretched too much. For example, if you build the sword, and when you put on the blade, it gets stretched out because it was just a little too short to meet at the hilt evenly. That would stretch the foam, and end up taking out all of the "bounce" or "give" from it. Making the weapon hit too hard on one side, or possibly both. Pretty sure that's what happened to the weapons I'd made before Yin and Yang, and why they hit like bricks. To solve that issue, instead of cutting to exact length, try to figure in and inch or two extra, just in case. The foam scraps can be used to make rocks. You can't take DAP off once you put it on. It gets into the seams and pores of both the core and the foam, so even if you try to scrape it off, it'll still be there. Now, I'm not against DAP. If it works for you, please, by all means, use it. However, tape could be a good alternative for you in the winter months, if you can't go outside to a heated garage or something like that. You can't use DAP inside, cuz of the fumes. That in mind, here's a few tidbits that I learned about DAP when I used it exclusively. Depending on temperature and such, it can dry MUCH quicker than you would think. I've made a sword and taken 2 hours on it, then let it set for 2-4 days, and it be fine. I've also made a sword in 20 minutes, let it set, and it worked just as well. If the wind is blowing, and you can keep the foam from flipping or blowing away, the wind acts like a blow dryer and speeds up the drying process. Very handy indeed. Another thing to remember about DAP: It's very acidic. DO NOT use it on straight up open cell, such as mattress padding, cushion/stuffed animal/pillow foam, etc. It'll eat through it like a homeless guy at an all you can eat buffet. Poof...gone. Now, Poof/Nerf footballs, blue foam, and other closed cell or at least mid density open cell? Works great. Just don't slop it on too much with the Poof/Nerf, cuz it's still open cell. Too much will make it degrade faster. Now, to fix that problem, you could use the tape on the open cell, something like that, and DAP on the rest. But I don't know how the acidity of the DAP would affect the tape and it's bond. You may be better of just using all tape, or all DAP. I'm not entirely sure. I do know, however, that no matter what adhesive you use (Gorilla Glue is supposed to be very good as well, btw), if you use Plastidip, the fumes will weaken the bond of the adhesive. The stuff is like DAP is to fluffy open cell.....acid. So, anyhoo, that's about it for my knowledge for now. | |
