| The Silver Hammer Welcome! This is my humble little shop! I specialize in leatherworking, but I've got an assortment of things avaliable! Anything you may need; garb, boffers, armor, accessories, etc! I can probably make it. My prices vary by item, and design work. Tell me what you'd like, and I'll look for supplies, and give you a estimate. I guarantee all my products 100%, and will repair them, if need be, for a small fee. This is assuming you've used the product for its intended use. Thanks! | |

| How about a price qoute on a helm? Whether it's paid for by barter or cash, doesn't matter to me, but I'd like a qoute. | |

| Made from leather?
If you can give me a rough sketch, or a reference picture that would help me understand what I'm going for.

| Alright, that shouldn't be too bad.
Do you want the mask to pivot up and down? That may pose a problem, as I've never done that before. But one can always try haha
I'll have to check supply prices, but I'd say for an estimate...50-60$

| Nah, no pivot. Just a fixed helm. I can do the "detail" work, so to speak, unless you want to do it, in which case I'll have to send you a message with the symbols and such. How thick is the leather you're using? | |

| Okay, cool.
I'll wait and see before I decide if I'm going to do the symbols.
Its the same thickness as my armor, though I'll probably double it for reinforcement.

| How thick is your armor? Personally, if I'm gonna spend the money on a helm, I'd want it at least an inch thick if it'll be leather. Arrows HURT. | |

| An inch? Thats pretty thick for a helmet
My armor is only 1/4 of an inch.

| Arrows hurt. Also, I tend to at least try to go for realism in the sense of "Would 1/4" thick leather stop an arrow? Would it give protection of any kind to an actual headshot with a weapon?" Think of how thick of leather would give protection, and then quote me that. You'd know better than me, I'd think, since you're the leatherworker. | |

| True, but then again no thickness of leather would do anything against a real weapon.
I'd say 3/4 and up. But that helmet is, and correct me if I'm wrong, is based on Maximus's helmet from Gladiator. That type of helmet would work much better in metal, but I'm no metalworker hahaha
I can probably make it, I'm just not sure how much protecting I'll be able to provide.

| If nothing else, it'd give me arrow protection. I want to get one of it in metal later on, but that's later on. | |

| Well, I dont have the tools for engraving like that. But I'm gonna do some tests to see if I can use a dremel to do it.
I'd say around, 15-20$ probably.

| From what I've heard, you can in fact use a dremel for carving in both leather and plastidip. | |

| @Dragonwalker - Cool, thanks @Niall - Without carving still 15-20$. With carving, probably still 15-20. hahaha Mostly I'm in this for the pleasure. These are basicly the cost of supplies. I may just take money for supplies, and then for bigger stuff have them make me a boffer or something as payment for my work. That way I'm not losing any money, and they get wayyyyyy cheap armor. Cause SCA official armor is ungodly expensive. | |

| Yeah, I'd say 20 for the pair, most likely.
This is an estimate of course, as I haven't checked leather prices in awhile. But i'll look shortly.
And yes, they should be legal. They'll be the same thickness as mine.
