As a young boy, I was always struck by the misery and hopelessness of the world around me. Evil was everywhere I looked, and never was there good to oppose. Maybe these evils weren’t the horrible, all-powerful evils of the old epics, but instead they were dark, insidious evils that not even a hero of the old tales could destroy.
So I studied. I learned all that could be found in books about the ways of the knights. Honor, valor, courage, truth, and the old Code of Chivalry. Like a sponge, I soaked up all that I could, but one can only learn so much from mere books. So, looking up from my tomes at the evils still unchallenged, I knew my path. I had to find a teacher.
After years of wandering across two continents, I found myself in a land I later learned was called Alterra. It was there that I met Niall, and he became the answer to both my quest for a teacher, and my evil to help destroy.
I became Niall’s squire, and began turning my theoretical knowledge into actual skill. Many days were spent drilling and training with a variety of weapons, and soon a bond of friendship stronger than blood formed between master and student. When Niall set off to rid Soluna of his tyrannical father, I could think of nothing but to follow.
Now, the evil has been displaced, and here I stand before you: Friedrich von Buseck, Sworn Blade of Soluna and defender of my new land and my liege until death.
